Do I have an Addiction?
Have you been having difficulty with your use of alcohol or drugs and believe that you may have an addiction?
Have you ever wondered if your drug or alcohol use was a problem or have people in your life expressed concern over your use?
If so, ask yourself the following questions:
Have you had to take more drugs or alcohol to get the same effects or use for longer than you meant to?
Do you want to stop using but feel you are unable to?
Do you spend a lot of time getting, using, or recovering from use?
Do you have cravings and urges to use the substance?
Are you having difficulty managing to do what you should at work, home or school, because of substance use?
Is your substance use causing problems in your relationships?
Have you given up on things you used to love to do because of substance use?
Do you keep using even though it puts you in danger?
Do you continue to use even though you know that you have a physical or psychological problem that is caused by the substance?
Do you have withdrawal symptoms, which can be relieved by taking more of the substance?
If you answered yes to any or all of these questions it may be time to take a closer look at how your substance use is affecting your quality of life.
